Lots of Big Stuff, Progress, and Beautiful Skies

Hello Everyone!  I'm sorry I haven't written in a day or two. Mommie has been kind of busy with other stuff and so we haven't had much time for too many "adventures".  Oh, but today was Sunday, and Mommie and Daddy went to church this morning.  Mommie said I could share with you their church service and the pretty song the choir sang, so here it is:

Mommie said to be sure to start at the beginning to hear the choir singing
"We'll Soon Be Done With Troubles and Trials"

"Some of these days I’m going home
Where no sorrows ever come
We’ll soon be done with troubles and trials.
Safe from heartache, pain and care, We shall all that glory share
And I’m gonna sit down beside my Jesus
Sit down and rest a little while.

We’ll soon be done with troubles and trials.
Yes, in that home on the other side
And I’m a gonna shake glad hands with the elders
Tell my kindred good morning
Then I’m gonna sit down beside my Jesus
Sit down and rest a little while.

I shall behold His blessed face, I shall feel His matchless grace
We’ll soon be done with troubles and trials
O what peace and joy sublime in that home of love divine
And I’m gonna sit down beside my Jesus
Sit down and rest a little while.

We’ll soon be done with troubles and trials.
Yes, in that home on the other side
And I’m a gonna shake glad hand with the elders
Tell my kindred good morning
Then I’m gonna sit down beside my Jesus
Sit down and rest a little while.

We’ll soon be done with troubles and trials.
Yes, in that home on the other side
And I’m a gonna shake glad hand with the elders
Tell my kindred good morning
Then I’m gonna sit down beside my Jesus
Sit down beside my Jesus
Sit down beside my Jesus, and rest a little while, little while.
Sit down and rest a little while. Little while."

After the music you can listen to the Pastor preach from the book of James 3:13-4:3.  She said it was a good sermon and you will like it!  I hope so!!

So now, what else have we been doing lately? Well, one day  this past week we took a little ride to see how the new road construction was coming along.  Here are some pictures Mommie took of the big road equipment:

I think it would be fun to ride on one of those big things!  Maybe they would even let me drive it! Do you think so?  Well, Mommie said probably not. They are very very big and expensive, and it takes a lot of experience to know how to work these things, but maybe someday they might let me sit inside one and see what it's like. That would be fun.

Mommie said they are adding two more lanes to this highway so it will have 4 lanes all the way from where we live to another city far away. She said that might make more people want to move to our neighborhood because then they could "commute" to better jobs in the cities on this road. Mommie said they call that "progress", but she hopes it doesn't change the quiet little town we live in. We like it just fine the way it is.

One of the little towns along this road is called "Hawthorne". We drove through the old downtown area and saw this painting on the side of one of the buildings.

Mommie said that's the way it used to be in this little town...lots of big bass fishing in the lakes, the railroad train came right through town, there were lots of orange groves and wildlife and old hotels. "Progress" made the big highway bypass this little town, and now it  has lots of empty buildings like this:

However, Mommie said somebody she knows actually just bought this building and they are going to put a pizza place and a couple of stores in it. So maybe something good is going to happen in this little town after all! Maybe that is progress!

After leaving here we drove back toward home, and we stopped at my big brother Benton's house because they had some big stuff and "progress" going on too!

This funny looking machine was going around to their back yard because they had someone cutting down some trees and this thing was going to haul away the debris:

It looks like some kind of monster with big teeth if you ask me:

Speaking of "monsters with big teeth":

Sugar...
And Spice were happy to see me. Spice didn't even bark at me this time! I think she likes me now!!
And they really aren't monsters with big teeth. They like to lick me and tickle me!! LOL.

Then we went around to the back yard and saw this going on:

And after that man in that bucket thingy was done trimming some more trees, he went way way up in the sky:

UP

UP

And WAY UP in the sky!!! I was getting a little nervous for him...

But Mommie said he would soon come down and be just fine.  They got that old dead tree cut down and some branches on some other trees and then they were done.
Mommie said they made good progress!!

While we were there Mommie said we needed to stop and "smell the roses", or in this case, Auntie Rose's Camellias, and they don't really have much of a smell, but they are very pretty!

And then we said good-bye to my big brother Benton and we headed back home.

I'd say we made good progress that day!

And now for the "grand finale".

Mommie and I sat outside this evening and watched the sunset.

Isn't it bea-U-ti-ful?

I just had to lift my hands and Praise the Lord. Mommie did too.

And then we sang this song that Mommie said they sing in church. It's called the "Doxology":

"Praise God from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost."
Amen.

I hope you enjoyed this little ride with me today.  It's nice to make "progress" in good ways, but it is always good to remember Who makes all the blessings "flow", and to give Him the praise.

I hope you have a wonderful night, and I'll see you later alligator!  After while crocodile!  (My Mommie and Daddy say that sometimes and I think it's funny, don't you?)

Love always,

Lily Grace

  1. Miss Lily Grace, you certainly saw a lot of progress on your latest adventure. Progress can be good, but not when it hurts the surrounding areas. And those big machines? I'd love to get up on one of those, too, just to see what it's like. One time, I got to sit in the cab of a huge train engine. That was amazing!
Looking forward to more of your adventures, little one.
    Blessings!

    1. Oh, yes, Miss Martha Jane, wouldn't it be fun to get up on one of those big machines? I don't know about that one that goes up so high in the sky, though. That might be scary! I would love to ride on a choo-choo train. That would really be fun. Thank you for visiting. I hope to have more adventures soon!!! Love, Lily Grace xoxoxo

  2. GOOD morning, Lily Grace! Thank you for sharing all your fun times with us. Wow, I don't know where to start! Yes, those big buckets that carry the tree-cutters so high in the sky sure look fun. We had one of those working in our back yard a couple of years ago, but Mr. Tom wouldn't let me ask them for a ride. I suppose that takes a lot of trust - both in the machine and in God. I've not heard of Hawthorne, Florida before -- but I sure have a soft spot for olden towns like that. As a matter of fact, the town 15 min. up the road from us, Wetumpka, is a little like that. That's where Mr. Tom and I wanted to buy our house. Do you watch HGTV, Lily Grace? They had folks here working on a new series, Home Town Takeover, that's supposed to begin airing next month. Everyone's so excited!

Tell mommie I sure enjoyed her choir singing. Is she a soprano? I'm looking where everyone's standing and trying to remember how our h.s. choir director put everyone.

    Have a super-duper day!

    1. Mommie said she is an alto, and she is the only one except for the pianist, who doesn't always sing if she has to play the piano. Mommie said they are kind of arranged also just any way they can fit in the space allowed, and also allowing for "social distancing" as much as possible. Mommie says she will look for that new show on HGTV. She said for you to let her know when it is coming on and she will watch for it. We like little towns too, and that is why we live where we do. Thank you for visiting us, Miss Myra! You always make me happy to hear from you. Love, Lily Grace xoxoxo

HA HA OR INSIDE THE thing, LOL. I liked the picture from the small town, Mommie loves small towns and says they "are the best"! And she wishes they ALL COULDVE STAYED like they once were, people made it back then w/out so much 'progress' she says. i LOVE the pretty flowers, we have those here too and I always like to smell them and make pictures by them, just LIKE YOU. Fun to see that big tree COME DOWN!!?? We had to do that here too Mommie says, but I did not live here yet so I didn't see it. She said it was pretty exciting! The little doggies look sweet and so glad they like you now. We have TWO BIG ONES here of course, you remember them from when you stayed here. Love you, and Mommie says to tell your Mommie that she is an alto too, she was always in choir in jr. high and high school , whatever THAT IS. ??

    1. Dear Tracie, I am so happy you wrote to me! I love to visit with you and Auntie Debbi and your new friend Amybelle and Tansy. I wish you could all come down here and visit and we could go look at some stuff together! That would be so much fun!! I would LOVE to ride up in that tall thing, but not alone. I would want someone to go with me, but I don't think Mommie wants to...would you? Oh yes, my big brother's doggies Sugar and Spice love me now and they just love to lick me and tickle me. They are so sweet. Oh, my Mommie says that she is an alto now, but when she was young and in choir in high school she was a soprano. She said her voice got lower after being a cheerleader in high school, and also as she got older. But she still loves to sing. Maybe your Mommie and my Mommie could sing some songs together sometime. That would be fun, and we can play our guitars!! Thank you for visiting. I do hope you all will come back again and again! Love you all, Lily Grace xoxoxoxoxo
