Lily Grace Has a Good Good Day!

Today I got to go with Mommie to my brother Benton and "Auntie Rose's" special store, "Dixie Cottage".   We spent the day there so we could help them greet people and sell things. It was a lot of fun! Here are some pictures from the day, so you can see I was busy and being a good helper.

When they showed us how to ring up a customer's purchase in the computer, at first we were nervous. But then Mommie got the hang of it and soon it was easy as pie.  She said we should not be afraid to try new things...we should "Be Afraid NOT to try!"

Here are some pictures of some of the new items they have in the store that I liked:
This special "server" could make a wonderful coffee and tea bar, don't you think?

Even though their store is mostly for people who have beach homes or condos, they like things like big farmhouse tables too:

And this beautiful china cabinet/hutch makes a great place to store dishes and pretty stuff:

I really loved this pretty little desk, and wish I could have one for my very own! It would be a nice place to sit and write my blog posts to you!

I found these cute mugs...one for an "after school snack", and another that says "Safety 1st,  Drink with a nurse!"  Ha Ha! I guess that would make a funny gift for a nurse!

They have some other nice coffee or tea mugs that would make great gifts. I think Mommie would like one of these, especially the one that says "Believe" on it, since that is her "One Word" for this year!

Or one of these, with a special little pocket for her tea bag!

Or any of these, with nice Bible Verses on them:

Or even one of these, because they are "feathered and fabulous"!

Now, this was something we all loved...this pretty bench:

You know why I loved it?  You can open up the seat and there is a hidden compartment underneath! I could hide all my treasures in there and no one would ever find them!!! You won't tell, will you? It will be our secret!

This is a pretty tall dresser for a bedroom. I like the American Flag on top, don't you?
And I like those feathered pillows down there too.

I found a mermaid!!! Isn't she beautiful?  I wish I could be a mermaid too! It would be so much fun to swim and swim and swim!!

I also found this tiny little bicycle! It might be a little too small for me, however! But it might fit my friend Barbie!

Here's a nice gift idea: A wooden spoon rolled up in a dish towel! I like the little seahorse on the spoon!

Now Mr. Toucan said that's a whale of a tail!!

When all else fails, PRAY!! Mommie said, "Pray First"...don't wait for "all else to fail"!

I think Dixie Cottage is "My Happy Place"....well, actually, I like being home too...so that would be a nice sign to hang on the wall here at home, don't you think?

Hey Lookie! I found some more whale friends!  I think they are so cute!!! Daddy Whale, Mama Whale, and Baby Whale, all stacked up on top of each other!

In case you get hungry, they have some good jams and jellies and marmalade and chutney...I am not sure what that is, but it looks good enough to eat!

Here's another "whale of a tale"

You know, if we could just "enjoy the little things" in life, we'd all be a lot happier!

Just like what this little devotional and Bible verse tells us:

Yes, on a day like today, I want to sing praises and rejoice! It was a good good day!!

I hope you had a good good day too!

Bye Bye for now!

Love,
Lily Grace

Lily Grace and the Monster

Good Morning Friends! It seems like forever since I last wrote to you! It's been a busy week for Mommie and Daddy, and so I've mostly been staying home with my friends.
We have a good time singing and reading stories and stuff.

But yesterday I had quite an adventure that I must tell you about!  For many weeks we have driven past this store nearby, and I keep seeing this huge dinosaur out in front of it!  I keep telling Daddy to stop the car because I want to go see the dinosaur, but we are usually in a hurry or there is too much traffic or something and so we've never stopped.

Until yesterday!

But when we did finally stop and I got out of the car, I realized just how BIG that dinosaur was, and he had such huge sharp teeth and long pointed claws, and I was suddenly very scared of the big "monster"!

It made me feel like he was chasing me, and I was really really scared and wanted to get back in the car right away!

Yikes! He was so big, he could have swallowed me whole, if Mommie wasn't holding on to me really tight!

I wanted to run away as fast as I could and hide away from his big sharp teeth and fierce eyes and claws. I was really frightened.

Mommie said when we feel afraid we should always pray to Jesus.

And so I did pray. I prayed that Jesus would protect me from the big monster, and hold me safe in His hands, away from danger and scary things.

The more I prayed, the farther away I got from the monster dinosaur.

The farther away I got, the smaller he became.

As I prayed for Jesus to protect me, He helped me get farther and farther away, and then I could see that the monster really wasn't going to hurt me, and I didn't need to be afraid.

And pretty soon I was safely away, and Mommie and Daddy carried me back to the car where I felt safe and protected again.

Mommie read this devotional to me that my "Auntie Opal" gave me. I like what this says:

It is good to know that God is always with me, even when I am afraid of big monsters. He will protect me and rescue me from my fears. I just have to pray and trust Him and believe.

I hope you have a nice day!!
Remember,
"With God all things are possible!"
Matthew 19:26

Lily Blossoms and New Friends

Hello my friends!  I am sorry I haven't written much lately. Mommie wasn't feeling real well this week, but she is much better now and is trying to get a lot of things done to get caught up. I've been trying to help her all I can, but there are some things that I can't do yet because I am still too little.

But Mommie found these really pretty "LILY FLOWERS" !!!! at the grocery store, and so she bought one to plant in the Secret Memorial Garden! I was SO excited, because that's MY name too!!

Isn't it beautiful?  She planted it right beside our Easter Lily plant that has quit blooming for now, but Mommie said it will bloom again next spring, and hopefully this lily will too!  It sure is gorgeous, isn't it? And it has lots of buds on it, so it should keep blooming for a little while longer.

Don't you like what that sign says about the Secret Garden? It is wonderful place to sit and swing and watch the birds and just relax in the shade. And little by little Mommie is planting more and more flowers and plants there to make it pretty.

Mommie said she already showed you these pretty cushions on her blog the other day, but since I was sitting on one of the stools, I wanted to show you this too, in case you missed it! My big Sister "Auntie Rose"  recovered those seats for Mommie and also her sister "Auntie Sherrie" made the new covers for the pillows. They are all about "Tea Time", and that fits in really well in our kitchen, 'cause Mommie loves "Tea Time".

And I like to sit there and watch Mommie while she cooks food in the kitchen!!
See me waving?  Hi Everyone!

I did help Mommie with something today that I've never done before.  She said it was time to change the bed linens in the guest room to a more spring and summer theme. I was excited to get to help, because I've never been in that room before!

Mommie likes to use what she calls "Vintage" linens on the guest bed.  I love the sheet with the pretty blue roses on it, don't you?

And the pillow cases have embroidered designs on them. Mommie said that my Daddy's grandmother, "Nanny Martin", did that embroidery many many years ago, and so that makes these very special indeed!

She doesn't have a matching pair, well, this one above has a matching one, but some of the lace is torn and it doesn't look as pretty,  so she is using two different pillow cases. But they are both beautiful, don't you think?

And here is the bed with the quilt and pillow shams and some of Mommie's dolls on it.

I was excited, because I made some new friends!!
The little dark haired girl next to me is named "Sandra", and Mommie said that her Grandma Tedlie made "Sandra" for her when she was a very little girl! Mommie said that makes her very old, but she is still very young at heart.

The other pretty girl is named Cory. And here's Cory's Story! Ha Ha! That rhymes!
"I'm a poet and I didn't know it! But my feet sure show it! Longfellows!"  (Mommie taught me that little rhyme. Isn't it funny?)

Isn't she sweet?  Mommie said Cory was a gift to her many years ago from her brother in law.

I saw this sweet picture on the wall in our guest room. I asked Mommie who those cute girls were, walking with their pretty hats and holding hands?  Mommie said they aren't anyone we know, just good little friends in a photograph, with a "poem" written about them underneath.

Here's a close up so you can read what it says:

I like that too, don't you? And I am happy I made some new friends today! How about you? Have you made any new friends lately? They sure are nice to have.

I looked around the room and saw this old sewing machine. Isn't it lovely?

I asked Mommie if she could teach me to sew. She said maybe on her other sewing machine that is electric. This one has to use a foot peddle treadle thingy, and it is little bit more difficult to use. It is very old. I asked her where it came from.

She said it belonged to Daddy's "Nanny Martin". Her real name was Pearl Sarah Elizabeth Waters Martin. She is the lady with the white hair below on the left top. The lady below her was her mother! Her name was Grandma Waters, but her real name was Georgiann Jarrard Waters. And the couple on the right was my Daddy's Momma and Daddy.  Their names were William George Steiner and Vivian Ruth Martin Steiner, also known as "Granddaddy and Nanny Steiner".

Below is a picture of "Nanny Martin", when she was a young lady.  She is also the same one who made that quilt on the sewing machine above. She was very talented, and made lots of dresses and quilts for her family of four daughters,  and even made one for each of her grandchildren.  She also sold quilts to help pay for "Nanny Steiner" to go to beauty college!

Mommie said we should remember our Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers as well as our Mothers on Mother's Day.

I like these other two signs on the walls in the guest room:

"A friend loves at all times."  Proverbs 17:17

And this one came from my Mommie's Mommy's house, which also originally came from Grandma Tedlie's house!

So, the guest room is all ready! I wonder who will be our next guest?  I hope it will be someone who will like me too!!

Oh, I got this little cup and flower arrangement for Mommie at the flea market so she would have something for Mother's Day from me:

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends in blogland!

Bye bye for now,
Love,
Lily Grace

Easter Time!

Happy Easter Time everyone!!  Yesterday was Easter, and I hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating that Jesus came out of the dark damp ...
