Grateful and Blessed!

Hello My Friends!
It's Friday night here at our house, and it's been a really nice day.

Mommie and Daddy went to a little flea market here in our town, and they had some delicious fresh strawberries for sale, so Mommie bought some.

I was enjoying eating them just like they are, so plump and juicy and sweet! Yummy!!
Aren't they pretty?
I am happy and joyful and very thankful to God for His blessings!

While Mommie was at the flea market she found these two pretty things: the cut glass juicer and this sweet little bowl with colorful old fashioned flowers on it.

She said they were a super bargain!

This evening we had our family over for a spaghetti supper and strawberry shortcake for dessert!
Here I am with MY bowl of Strawberry Shortcake! It sure was yummy with homemade shortcake and whipped cream on top!!

After supper we went outside to watch the sunset over Still Waters Pond.
Isn't it beautiful?

My sweet "aunties" Rose and Sherrie let me watch the sunset with them.

It just got prettier and prettier every minute.
AND we saw BATS!!!

There were BATS swooping around through the sky, flying over the pond and all around us, even right over our heads!!

I wish you could see them. I was trying to point at them, but they were too quick. Mommie said they were eating mosquitoes and keeping them from eating us!!!

Mommie said that bats are really our friends, even though people don't seem to think so and are often afraid of them.
HERE is a LINK to more information about BATS and why they are good to have around.

Mommie said that because the bats are out there eating the bugs for us, we can stay outside a little longer to enjoy the sunset!  But, it didn't take long for the mosquitoes to find us and we had to go inside. Mommie said we'd need a lot more bats to keep all the mosquitoes away!  She said maybe she can get my big brother Benton to build a bat house so more bats can live there and have a place to sleep in the daytime where they won't be disturbed. That would be a nice thing to do. We shall see what happens.

Meanwhile:

Be Happy and Joyful!
and
Be Grateful and Blessed!

Good Night, Sleep Tight,
Don't let the big bugs bite...
And if they do,
maybe you need some bats too!

Ha Ha!
Bye Bye,

Love,

Lily Grace

    1. Thank you, Miss Terri! Yes, I did have quite a nice day! It's always fun when our family comes to visit. And yes, I might have been a little scared of the bats if I didn't have my family there to tell me what they were and that I was safe. At one point they swooped right over our heads kind of close, and that was a little scary, but apparently they saw the bugs that were coming after us and they wanted them! So that was okay! I hope you have a wonderful day. We are praying for you every day. Love, Lily Grace xoxoxoxo

  2. Oh, those strawberries look so delicious, Miss Lily Grace, and I'm glad you got to enjoy them. Strawberries are my favorites! Yes, bats are kind of freaky to look at, but they sure do help with keeping insects at bay. I hope your big brother, Benton, can build a bat house for you soon so more bats will find a home at Still Waters Pond. Have a blessed day, little one!

    1. Thank you Miss Martha Jane. The strawberries were very very good. I wish we had some more. Mommie said we can get more next weekend if they still have them. I saw a picture of a bat up close, and it is rather scary to look at face to face. I am glad they stayed up in the sky and didn't come down and land on me! If we do get a bat house, I hope it isn't too close to the house, but I do hope the bats will eat lots and lots of mosquitoes. Do you have bats where you live? Do you have mosquitoes? They are pesky little things, aren't they? At least they don't bother us in the daytime, so that is good. I hope you have a happy day! Bye Bye, Love, Lily Grace

    1. Ha Ha Miss Linda!! Mommie said bats are our helpers here on Still Waters Pond, or else we'd be eaten alive by mosquitoes! But we don't want them to land on us. That would be scary! Mommie said when you move back to Florida some day, (hint hint) she will make you some strawberry shortcake!! Have a happy day! Love, Lily Grace xoxoxoxo

  4. Hi little one! That bowl of strawberries looks so pretty, and you're all color coordinated. I never knew anything about bats being our friends. Thank you so much for telling me about them! I hope you're having a super fun day, Lily Grace; I look forward to 'talking' soon!

    1. Thank you Miss Myra!! Mommie said I look like "Strawberry Shortcake", who used to be a very popular little girl years ago! And yes, Mommie also said that bats are our friends because they love to eat mosquitoes. But we don't want them to land on us!! They are not very pretty to look at. I am having a happy day. We've had some porch sitting time!! It was very nice out there today. I hope you are having a happy day too. Love, Lily Grace

  5. Those strawberries look soooo good! Not at all like the half-ripe or mushy, rotten ones we all too often have up here in PA. I used to go to a pick-your-own place up here in the summer, but most of those have closed down. I don't know of any nearby these days. Bat's aren't my favorite thing, but one of my favorite critter videos that goes around on Facebook is of a baby bat eating some banana. He is actually adorable!

    1. Oh hello Miss Stacy! I am so happy you stopped by today!! I wish I could send you some fresh ripe strawberries from Florida! Maybe your pick your own strawberries will start up again soon. People need happy places like that to go and get good food. OH, I would love to see a bat eating a banana! That would really be funny!! Maybe I should ask Mommie to put out some bananas for the bats and see if they will come and eat them. But then we'd probably have to stay out after dark to see them and the mosquitoes would eat us up because the bat would be too busy eating a banana to eat mosquitoes...so that's probably not a good idea! Ha Ha. But I'd love to see it anyway. Maybe we can find it on Facebook sometime. I hope you are having a happy weekend. Love, Lily Grace xoxoxoxo

    1. I went and read Sarrah's adventure, and it was fun. I am happy she came to live with you. I know she will make you smile every day as she enjoys life and makes people happy. Oh, Mommie said she was happy to find that juicer because she gave her electric one away and then she wished she had one, so this will do just fine. And I love the pretty bowl too. It was perfect for my strawberries! Bye Bye for now. Love, Lily Grace

  7. Lily Grace: Please tell your mommie that, in teaching you about bats, she also taught me. Strawberries are my favorite fruit. Because I can't have things made with wheat, I eat them with extra whipped cream. Yummy.

  8. hi there my Bestest Friend Lily Grace! My Mommie loves that pretty bowl there, she buys those at the thrift stores too, she loves anything "old fashioned"--I am learning so many big new words, LOL! Oh my goodness that is a BIG BOWL OF strawbs ("STRAWBERRIES!!" hollers Tansy from the next room) ha ha. and whipped cream! Mommie puts that whipped creamy stuff on her iced coffee, I had a small taste and IT IS SO DELICOUS. I have not had straw-BERRIES yet. Oh the BATS!!!!---YES WE HAVE THEM HERE TOO and I got to see them and they SWOOOOOOOOP so high and low and FAST, HA HA. they come out right at dark-time and Mommie told me the SAME THING---they are good for the yards and eat all the dang "skeeters". There are ALOT OF BATS IN THE CITY here, maybe they all live up in all the church towers?---but we have seen them going in and out of upstairs windows in the old houses, yes we have. I like the pretty sunset picture! Love, Tracie

    1. Oh Tracie! I am so happy you visited me, and I am so happy to have gotten that wonderful package in the mail from you and Amybelle. That was such a nice surprise!! I have the bunny sitting up in my little "room", where I keep all my toys and things. It is very special and it makes me think of you. Oh, I hope you get some strawberries soon. You will LOVE them, especially with lots of whipped cream on them. Or even with ice cream!! My big brother Scott likes them that way. Oh, those bats are something else, aren't they? Mommie said she wouldn't want to let them live in the upstairs of a house, however, because they make a big mess that is hard to clean up. She said it is better for them to have their OWN house outside! But they do eat lots and lots of those skeeters! I saw them again last night when we watched another sunset. They are fun to watch. I loved the pictures you and Amybelle sent me today. Thank you for showing them to me. I love to see what you are doing. I wish we could ALL be together again, but maybe someday. Gotta go for now. Love, Lily Grace

  9. PS---I loved the pictures of you with that pretty flag and out in the Secret Garden too! It sure looks like a fun and pretty place to explore, please keep making lots of pictures for me okay? That little sunflower is so pretty and the baby plums are growing so fast! Have you picked any more little bouquets to bring in the house?

    1. Oh, thank you again, Tracie. I am glad you like my prettey little flag with the birds and flowers on it. Oh, we checked on the baby plums this morning. Maybe Mommie will share some more pictures later. They are starting to grow. I haven't picked any bouquets lately...maybe I better before the little fairy flowers and Carolina Jessamine is all gone. I love those so much, especially the Carolina Jessamine, because it reminds me of you and Auntie Debbi and Tansy and Amybelle, whom I haven't met yet, but I know I would love her too. I have to go for now, but I'll be back. Love, Lily Grace.
