Lily Has A BEACHY Adventure!!

When I woke up this morning I asked Mommie what are we going to do today? And she said she didn't know, but that we needed to have an adventure!  I said that I needed to have an adventure too, because I didn't have anything to write about in my blog today!

And so, after Mommie and Daddy talked about it for a few minutes, they decided we would have a very special adventure today! Guess what it is!!

Yes!! We went to the beach!!  This was my very first time to ever see the ocean or a real beach!! I was so excited I was pulling Mommie and Daddy across this little bridge walkway and saying, "Hurry up!! Let's get to the beach!!"

Actually, Daddy was way out in front of Mommie and me, because Mommie was stopping to look at the flowers on the sand dunes of course:

But they were very pretty, don't you think, with the sun shining through them and making them shine so brightly?

And FINALLY, we got across that walkway and I could see the ocean for the first time ever!!

And look at all the people who were already there before us!  They were sitting in their beach chairs, or under the umbrellas, or walking their dogs, or even some of them were swimming in the water!!!

Here's Mommie and ME, and we are so excited to go walking on the beach together for the first time. Mommie is wearing her shirt that says: "Life is Good" ~ "Born to Wander".  Mommie said that means she was born to go on adventures and explore places, and she's happy that I like to do that too!!

The first thing we saw was a JELLY FISH!!! They were all over the beach, and Mommie said that we shouldn't touch them because they might sting us.  We were surprised to see so many people in the water with these jellyfish all around them.  I know I didn't want to get stung, so we were very careful not to get out in the water very far with our bare feet.

But Mommie said we had to at least get our feet wet, because that is what you are supposed to do when you come to the beach!

Oh Wow! I was a little bit scared when the waves came right at my feet and kept coming toward me. And then it went right back out again!  Oh, and it was very COLD!!

But if was so much fun to feel the water swirling around my feet. I just had to keep watching for those jellyfish.

Then we decided to just take a walk down the beach a way. Daddy wanted to do that too.

Mommie tried to take a selfie of us. It was funny.

This is what was back up on the top of the shore...a big hotel.  And lots of people enjoying the fun in the sun.

We walked a little more and watched the tides coming in and out, and it was so exciting!
I was glad Mommie was holding on to me, because the tides were strong and I could have been swept out to sea. That would have been a bit too much of an adventure for me, don't you agree?

There were some sea shells on the seashore, but none that were pretty enough to take home today. I guess we really didn't think about it soon enough.  Mommie said maybe next time we will stay longer and look for some pretty shells to keep.

One last look at the ocean,

and Daddy was ready to go back to the car, so off we went back up the sandy beach...

And back across the sand dunes...

Mommie wanted to look at the flowers again...

Daddy was getting way ahead of us...

And actually, although Mommie didn't take a picture, a nice older man stopped and asked Mommie who her little friend was, meaning me,  and so she told him that my name was Lily Grace and that I write my own blog, and that we were on an adventure today. He seemed very impressed with that and asked Mommie if she helped me write the blog, and Mommie said "yes".  And he said it was very nice to have met both of us and he went on his way.  Mommie said he was very pleasant and seemed truly impressed.

Then we read all of these little information signs along the walkway that told about different animals and things along the beach. They were very interesting, and so I wanted to share them with you too:

We took one last look at the ocean and then we were on our way to our next adventure destination.

Can you guess where we were going?

Yes, you are right, we headed over to Dixie Cottage to see my big brother Benton and my big sister "Auntie Rose".  Their store isn't very far from the beach, so we wanted to go visit them for a while too!

This was the first time we got to see both of them at the store at the same time, so it was really special to take pictures of them at their very own beautiful store:

It is so exciting to think that this is their place and that they get to work here every day!!

Oh, how did YOU get here, Daddy?  Ha Ha!! He just came right in and made himself at home!
That's what the signs say: HOME, and one of them says "It's Good to be Home"...

I wandered around the store and found lots of pretty things to look at. I love this little table, don't you? I wish I could have one like it for my room!

Hey! That Pelican looks like he want to eat me! LOL!

Pretty birdies...

So many pretty things...
Yes, we are "Blessed".

Relax...

"Whalecome to our ocean..."

"Being Kind is Cool"...

Uh Oh! They had a special place just for me...

I choose to be HAPPY!!

I just love all these pretty little birdies and things, don't you?

And looky at this pretty glass fish! He has sea shells and sand in his belly!! I wonder if Jonah could fit in there too!  Ha Ha.

I like the sign at the top that says "scatter kindness"....

And here is another special sign...

All to soon it was time for us to head back home. But looky! That lighthouse looks like it is shining its light just for me!

On the way home we were hungry, and we wanted to go to Corky Bell's on the river, but it was so busy we couldn't get in, so we went to Sonny's BBQ.

Mommie brought me some good stuff in her to-go box!

And so we headed back home, and I was kind of sad because I was having such a good time.
But Mommie reminded me of this sign that was in Dixie Cottage store:

"We have tomorrow's for a reason"...and that is to give us hope for another wonderful adventure and opportunity to do something good...not just for me, but for other people too.  She said to remember the other sign that said "scatter kindness", and the hat that said "being kind is cool", and also the one that said "choose HAPPY".  And I thought about that and said, I think Jesus wants me to do all of those things, doesn't He?

Mommie said, "Yes, and here's a Bible verse for today that says:

"May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God.
May they be happy and joyful."
Psalm 68:3

What a wonderful adventure we had today. I am very thankful for the opportunities God gives me to learn new things and see so much beauty. I am very blessed.

Mommie wanted to share one thing before we close this post.  She said that her "One Word" for 2021 is "Believe", and this morning when she was putting on her make up she noticed on the lid of this eye make up container that it said "Believe"...beauty...

She said she was so surprised, because she has been using that eye makeup all year, and never ever saw what it said on the lid before because she usually doesn't have her glasses on when she is putting on her eye makeup. She never noticed what it said until today when she was putting it away and had her glasses on. And she said "Believe Beauty" to her means that if we Believe Beauty we will SEE beauty.
It's kind of like when we focus on the beautiful things God has put in front of us instead of the other negative things around us, we will see the beauty instead of  the ugly.  The ugly things will be drowned out by God's beauty before our eyes.
Something to think about.

So, believe beauty today, and things will look so much brighter!

Have a blessed and HAPPY day!!

I choose HAPPY! How about you?

Love,
Lily Grace

  1. Thanks for the trip to the beach. I recognized many of the scenes you've posted. Lily Grace got a wonderful initiation to what the beach and ocean are all about.

Benton and Rose's shop is delightful! I know they must enjoy spending time in their new business. Such beautiful stuff!

I liked the towel with the "time out" chair. That would suit me just fine! And the hat, "Being Kind is Cool" -- EVERYBODY should have one of those!!

    1. Oh Barbara, when I go to the beach I DO think of you and your dear Beloved, for I know how much you both enjoyed it. We haven't been in ages, and this was a delightful little day trip. I was disappointed, however, that the little beach side restaurant where we visited with our grandson and his mother Nicole after Benton and Rose's wedding was closed. That's how long it has been since we were last there...Nov. 2017! I can't believe it. But now that the kids are working over there every day we may find ourselves venturing over there more often. I wish you could come and go with us! Maybe sometime you will. Have a blessed week dear friend.

  2. I'm so glad you got to take a trip to the beach. Which beach did you go to? I'm glad you got to stop for a visit at Dixie Cottage too, so many pretty things there, and especially nice to see Benton and Auntie Rose. When I went to beaches in that area I never found many seashells but there is lots of sea glass there, and it's so pretty! I hope you'll be able to go again soon. :)

    1. We were at Crescent Beach, which is south of St. Augustine. It was very pretty and not too crowded there, and easy to get to. I hope now that we know the way we will go more often. It is about an hour's drive. I will look for sea glass next time! Have a happy day!

    2. Next time you go check out Vilano Beach, probably 5 or 10 minutes from Dixie Cottage. It's my favorite beach up there and it will probably be my topic for the letter V for the A to Z challenge next week if you want a little preview. :)

  3. What a splendid adventure you enjoyed, Lily Grace! I've never been to that beach, but it's on my short list, for sure. Like that old Longfellow verse, "My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea ..."
So many things I'm spotting in the Dixie Cottage that NEED to come live with me. Hahaha. Do your brother and Auntie Rose have a website?

    1. Oh Miss Myra! I am so happy you enjoyed this adventure with me today! It really was SO much fun! Maybe next time I can build a sand castle! And as far as Dixie Cottage goes, they do not have a website, but they have a page on Facebook if you want to contact them about something. The best thing to do is just come and visit and bring your car with plenty of room to take things home with you! Ha Ha! But let Mommie know so she can meet you!!! And ME too!!!! That would be SO MUCH FUN!! bye bye for now. Love, Lily Grace xoxoxoxo

  6. What a lovely, interesting visit to the beach! Many thanks for sharing the interesting sights and Lily Grace's fun narration. If you go to the shore after a big storm, sometimes you find better shells, glass, etc. But probably more jellyfish, too! Your son and DIL's shop is just so lovely. I am glad they invested in one of the lighted "OPEN" signs. I look for them to help tell me when something is open in these strange COVID times. What a unique shop they have.

    1. Oh Thank you, Miss Holly! I am so happy you came to visit me here today, and also that you enjoyed the walk on the beach with us. Mommie said you are right about the shells and sea glass, and that we will keep that in mind when thinking about going to the beach again. And oh yes, I like the pretty lit up "open" sign too. That way people know they are open even if they don't have their door standing wide open! Isn't it a fun and interesting place? They are excited to have it and God is blessing them every day! Thank you for visiting! Please come again! Love, Lily Grace

  7. "Believe beauty." Yes, Miss Lily Grace, God's beauty surrounds us, always and everywhere, when we take time to look and really see. I loved that you shared your adventure at the beach, your visit with Uncle Benton and Auntie Rose (their store is so inviting!), and the saying that "We have tomorrows for a reason." Yes, we do! God is infinitely gracious in His gifts to us. May you continue to discover them, little one!

    1. Thank you, Miss Martha Jane. Mommie is teaching me to always look for the beauty in everything, even in things that might not appear to be beautiful on the outside, but sometimes the beauty is within! That's sometimes harder to find, but she said if we take our time and look and learn, we may be surprised what we will find. And here it is "tomorrow"...the day after we visited Dixie Cottage and the beach, and yes, today is a new adventure, ready and waiting for us to explore whatever God has in store for us! That makes me very happy indeed. Have a blessed and wonderful day too. Love, Lily Grace.

  10. I must admit, Lily Grace, I'm a little jealous of your warm beach weather. We had snow in Kansas yesterday! I enjoyed your lovely pictures and look forward to the day (soon I hope) when I can put my toes in the water :)

    1. Oh my, Miss Molly! SNOW? Wow! That IS strange and cold weather for late April! Yes, Mommie said you will certainly appreciate the beach when you are able to get there again! This has been an unusual winter here too. It was chilly this morning and is supposed to go down to 48 tomorrow morning! That is pretty cold for late April here in Florida! But no snow is in the forecast! I hope you warm up and have a nice rest of your week. Thanks for visiting! Love, Lily Grace

  11. What a great post Lily Grace! I love the pictures of the beach and seeing all the beautiful things you saw and the pictures from your brother and sister's store. I especially like the scatter kindness sign. That is what we all need to do each day and our world would be such a better place.

Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Hope you have another wonderful adventure today. Of course, everyday is an adventure when we love Jesus.
