Hi Everyone in Blogland! Sorry I haven't been around much lately! It's been hot and rainy and busy, and so we haven't had much time for adventures. But Mommie gave me a real wonderful treat today!
She said that summertime is finally here, and that means it is also "popsicle time"! Hooray!! I never had a popsicle before!! (oops! Mommie just checked her records and found out that I did have a popsicle before right HERE! We forgot about that!)
"However", Mommie said, "We have to go outside to eat our popsicle so we don't drip them all over the house."
So we went outside and sat in the shade on the swing and ate our popsicle.
The best part of all is that the popsicle stick has a riddle on it!! Mommie says she calls this the
"POPsickle Quiz". She said they used to have "pop quizzes" in school all the time, which meant you could have a test on something anytime without warning and you'd better be ready!
Anyway, with the popsicle quiz, you have to eat the whole popsicle to get the answer to the riddle!
This one says:
"Why are math textbooks always stressed?"
Any guesses??
Well, once we finished the popsicle we found out the answer:
"They deal with so many problems!"
Ha ha ha!!
Did you guess the answer correctly without looking? I didn't. Neither did Mommie.
Mommie said we will try to eat a popsicle whenever we can and give you the quizzes so you can play along with us, okay? Okay!
So then we just sat there in the shade in the Secret Memorial Garden and just swang on the swing. Swang? or is it swung? Or is it swinged? I don't know. Mommie said she thinks swang is fine in this case.
While we were sitting there swinging on the swing, we were surprised by a little visitor:
Not sure which one for sure, but some kind of cute little Warbler.
That was fun to see!! He was very tiny.
Finally it got too warm outside so we went back inside to cool off. Plus it looks like rain again.
Mommie took some pictures of hers and Daddy's salads that they had for lunch today.
Daddy said he wanted some potato chips on top of his salad:
Mommie thought it looked kind of interesting, so she wanted to show it to you. Have you ever done that before? Not sure where Daddy got the idea, but that is what he wanted instead of his usual bologna and cheese sandwich. Yes, he loves them, and yes, he eats one almost every day. Mommie was happy he wanted a salad instead today.
So here is Mommie's salad. She had her crackers and cheese on the side, and
Craisins on top of her salad. Both salads had slivers of ham and shredded cheese and sliced apples, spinach and lettuce.
They were very good, according to Mommie and Daddy.
I had my usual.
So that's all for today, folks!
Here's some things to think about from that nice little devotional book
"Choose Grace" from Auntie Opal:
Amen.
Bye Bye for now!
Love,
Lily Grace
I seeing potato chips on a salad is a first for me, but I suppose it would be kind of like croutons... maybe lol. I can't wait to hear the news!
ReplyDeleteHello Miss Martha! Mommie said she guesses she should try it some time. She likes to put tortilla chips on her salad sometimes, especially if it is a "taco salad" with taco meat and cheese on it, so why not potato chips? Might be a new fad! Have a wonderful day. Bye bye for now. Love, Lily Grace
DeleteSo happy to see a post from you, Lily Grace! I didn't guess the popsicle riddle, either. It was a hard one! Those salads sure look good, especially on such hot and muggy days!
ReplyDeleteDear "Unknown"....can you tell me your name? I'd love to know who you are. I will have to call you my "mystery guest". I am glad you came to visit me, and I hope you will come again. Yes, that was a hard riddle, but Mommie said once you know the answer, it makes sense and why didn't she think of that? Yes, salads are good on these hot muggy days. I think I'll tell Mommie that I want a salad too! I hope you have a wonderful day, Mystery Guest! Love, Lily Grace
DeleteGood evening, Lily! It's so good to 'see' you again! Those popsicle sticks are so clever; I didn't get the answer, either. Guess what? I showed the picture of your daddy's salad to Mr. Tom and he said, "Yes" ... he's done that, too! Salads taste especially good this time of year, don't they?
ReplyDeleteOh Hello, Miss Myra! Yes, I've been in hibernation for a while. Been too hot or rainy to go out and do many adventures. Mommie says she "wilts" in this heat and humidity, like a flower who is past its prime. Whatever that means. Yes, I love the popsicle quizzes, but I love the popsicle even better!! It is very refreshing on a hot day, but you have to eat it fast so it doesn't melt! Maybe the potato chips on a salad is a "man" thing. That's what Mommie said. LOL. Have a nice day. Love, Lily Grace
DeleteHi, Miss Lily Grace! How I'd love to have a popsicle with you and Mommie, especially with the funny riddles on the sticks. No, I didn't guess the answer before it was revealed. Sorry to hear it's been a bit too rainy for many adventures, but so glad to catch up on the news you do have for right now. Looking forward to reading more about you soon!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, little one!
Thank you Miss Martha Jane! Do people call you "Martha Jane" like they call me "Lily Grace", or do you just go by "Martha" like I also am just "Lily"? Mommie added the name "Grace" to what Daddy named me, "Lillian", or Lily for short. She said it was because I was an unexpected blessing, which is what Grace is. I like that. Yes, it's been very rainy again today, so we didn't even go outside to eat our popsicle. Maybe tomorrow. Thank you for playing along with the riddles! Have a nice day. We are praying for your Mother. Love, Lily Grace
DeleteLily Grace: It's so nice to hear from you again! I love the riddles on your popsicle sticks. My husband likes to crumbl cornbread on a lot of his foods. The past two nights he did it on chicken stew. It's been rather cool here for a few days; I say it's because I got out my summer clothes. A friend of mine and I went to a Chinese restaurant yesterday for lunch. We sat and talked about this and that. When we left, we had been there for two hours. I think I'll look for that brand of popsicles so I can have some fun with my friends.
ReplyDeleteOh hello Miss Quiet Spirit! I love to hear from you. Mommie says that they like to crumble cornbread on stews and soups especially. She says they mostly make that in the fall and winter when it is cooler. She says it's very good. Oh, I've never been to a Chinese restaurant before! Did you eat with chop sticks? Mommie says she loves to try and eat with them when she gets Chinese food. She says it is kind of hard to do, but it is fun to try. I am happy you got to have lunch with a friend. That sounds like a nice time. Yes, you must get the brand of popsicles that have the riddles. They are so much fun! Have a nice day. Love, Lily Grace
DeleteIt is nice to see you here again, Lily Grace!! Popsicles are good in the summer!! The quizzes are always fun and I never get the answer! The salads look delicious - even with the potato chips! They make a good crouton, I guess!! Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteHello Miss Terri! It is always so nice to hear from you. Mommie says you have a new job and it is at some kind of park. I bet it is a nice place to work. I hope you like it there. I am glad you enjoy the popsicle quizzes. They are fun, and they are hard to guess. Daddy said he liked his salad with the potato chips on it. Mommie hasn't tried it yet, but she said she might next time. I hope you have a nice day. Love, Lily Grace
DeleteOh, nothing says summer like a popsicle! My grandkids love them. I don't think I've ever had potato chips on a salad, but it's a big thing here to put French fries on salads! Of course we also put them in our sandwiches...the potato chips, too. That I have tried and it's pretty good. It hasn't been too hot here, but I just looked at our forecast and temps in the 90s are coming next week. Yuk! Thanks for sharing your day with us.
ReplyDeletePotato chips in sandwiches? French Fries on salads? Hmmm, I must tell Mommie about that! Maybe she can let me try some!! Hey, if you get temps in the 90s next week, maybe you and your grandchildren can finally go swimming in the pool!! That would be a lot of fun. I wish I could go swimming. Maybe someday. Thank you for visiting me, Miss Stacy. I always love to hear from you, because you know how to do fun stuff with little kids like me. Have a nice weekend. Love, Lily Grace xoxoxoxo
